Philippines’ Johnriel Casimero won the interim IBF Junior Flyweight title in 10-round stoppage of Luis “El Mosquito” Lazarte in Buenos Aires, Argentina on Saturday.
The battle was filled with dirty tactics. The 40-year-old Lazarte, was not be able to connect with his punches to Casimero, he always threw rabbit punches every time they were caught in a clinch. He also complained several times while pretending got hit below and received head butts.
These actions made the Filipino to retaliate and did his own tricks. In the 9th round, he caught Lazarte several times making him down twice. He finished Lazarte in the 10th round where Lazarte threw his towel in the corner.
Then, the riot began.
Angry Argentinian fans made their way through the stage as officers were unable to stop the ranging mobs. The locals attacked all the Filipino team including the promoter Sammy Gello-ani. Chairs and bottles were thrown to the ring.
Gello-ani said that they got bruises, but not serious. One of the members, Oswaldo Bravo pulled Casimero from the ring and hid him below the right to prevent the mob from catching him. He noted that they are now safe and escorted by local police.
